Tool and Die Steel O1 Bars are promanganese, 1.00% chromium, with trace amounts of silicon, phosphorusduced primarily from carbon steel, and its composition includes approximately 0.90–1.00% carbon, 0.40% , and sulfur. It is due to this composition that O1 steel boasts excellent hardness, wear resistance, and retention of edges. Its tensile strength is between 700-1,100 MPa, and after the heat treatment, the hardness varies between 55–62 HRC. O1 is also known for good machinability and dimensional stability, making it ideal for use in tool and die applications. Its toughness and resistance to cracking under high applied pressure ensure reliability in demanding machining environments.

When choosing O1 tool and die steel bars, consider factors like hardness, wear resistance, machinability, heat treatment requirements, intended application (e.g., cutting, stamping), and cost-effectiveness for long-term use.
O1 tool and die steel bars have moderate resistance to corrosion due to their carbon content and alloy composition. However, they are not stainless and can rust without proper maintenance, such as coating or regular oiling.
O1 tool and die steel can be welded, but it's crucial to preheat and control cooling rates to prevent cracking. Post-welding heat treatment is recommended to restore its hardness and properties.
Tool and Die Steel O1 is an oil-hardening, cold-work tool steel that includes carbon, manganese, chromium, tungsten, and trace amounts of silicon. This well-balanced composition results in excellent hardenability, a fine grain structure, and stability during heat treatment. O1 steel typically achieves a hardness of 57–62 HRC after quenching, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications.
